Google Analytics is a result of Google’s purchase Urchin web statics software. Back in the day (well, a couple of years ago), Urchin was one of the best web statistics packages available. Google’s improvements to the front-end interface and back-end recording is simply amazing. And they give it away for free.
It is really easy to sign-up with a Google account so and put the analytics code into a site, simple enough that even I can do it. Took about 2 minutes to add the tracking code to this blog.
